Gee, I'm someone's "hero"...

|

Errr, OK, Here's an entry I found in a MySpace entry from someone named Ben (who posts as Man In The Bubble):

"HEROES:
Han Solo, Buddha, Jesus, Superman, Batman. The only one who's not made up would be Paul Sizer. I saw him in person once but I didn't know what to say to him."

Great. No pressure.

More Awards Nominations for MOPED ARMY!

|

Sheesh, what did I do? Save a bus of nuns in a former lifetime, then read to crippled kittens on the weekends? Comic karma has been very nice to me recently. Observe:

First, super secret insiders have informed me that MOPED ARMY is going to be nominated for the American Library Association's "Best Books For Yuoung Adults" award this year; the award that catapulted Jane's VOGELEIN into the stratosphere in terms of sales when she made this award's Top 10 list back in 2003! And my insider also says this really gets the attention of bigger publishers, which is strange; I am now self publishing and really dig it for the control I can have over my books and work, so I don't know if the lure of working with a big publisher is all that desirable for me. Still, contacts are contacts, and our Del Rey/Random House gigs are really sweet right now, so who knows?

So as it stands, MOPED ARMY is now up for:

A.L.A. BEST BOOKS FOR YOUNG ADULTS 2006
A.L.A. GREAT GRAPHIC NOVELS FOR TEENS 2007
2006 GLYPH AWARDS for "Story of the Year", "Writer of the Year" and "Best Female Character (Simone Coleman from MOPED ARMY)"

Someone out there must like me...
